constructing memoryscapes: spectres of a personal heartland
Artist Statement:
There are inherent complexities in reconstructing memories, the multitude of sensory observations, viewpoints, and idealised narratives colouring truths. The recollected landscape is not stagnant or settled, but fluid and evolving observing shifts in position, time, and aging perspectives. This work comprises over 500 photographs including three different site perspectives, alongside multiple images of the earth underfoot within eye’s view. These collaged photographs together with a site-specific spectrograph identifying the sonic landscape create a personal spectre of place. A memory bank situated and grounded, from the earth beneath my feet to the skies above.
